CleanAim® RNG biogas upgrading solution separates unwanted gases from biomethane, the process required to obtain renewable natural gas. The technology is a containerized, plug-and-play solution without the need for columns, water, or chemicals. A simple compression step, combined with a multi-stage membrane configuration, purifies the biogas to 99% biomethane.

CleanAim® RNG is a simple process that ensures consistent plant operation and easy troubleshooting, thus increasing plant uptime. The upgrading facilities are robust and respond automatically to changes in flow, pressure, and composition, providing maximum uptime. In the event of a failure, the facility safely and automatically shuts down and alerts the operator.

Membrane separation technology is both robust and simple for converting raw biogas into renewable natural gas (RNG). The selectivity of CH4 and CO2 is used in this technology. CO2 selectivity is present in the membranes. Using membrane technology, the CH4 is collected as retentate and separated from the CO2, resulting in a final polished gas with a low inert content, low level of gas impurities, and a nearly 99% methane yield.

CleanAim® RNG allows for the production of high-purity renewable natural gas and the separation of CO2 from methane, resulting in a stream that is a byproduct of the upgrading process. This CO2 stream can be used as a secondary feedstock in the CleanAim® GTL and CleanAim® WTL processes to produce SAF. This allows CleanAim® RNG to operate in synergy with other solutions in carbon capture configurations and to avoid atmospheric carbon dioxide emissions.
