Privacy Policy

What we collect, why, and how to have it deleted

This policy covers cleanaim.com. It says what we collect, what we do with it, who else touches it, and how to get it removed. It is deliberately specific: a policy written in generalities is not a policy, it is a disclaimer.

What this site does not do

This site sets no cookies. It runs no analytics, no tag manager, no advertising pixels and no third-party tracking scripts of any kind. You can read every page here without being counted, profiled or followed.

There is no mailing list on this domain and no way to subscribe to one. The Silent Wiring book list is a separate service on a separate site, silentwiring.com, with its own policy. Joining that list does not put you in touch with anything here, and writing to us here does not add you to that list.

Server logs

This site is served by a commercial web host, which keeps the ordinary server logs any web server keeps: the requesting IP address, the time, the page requested and the browser's user-agent string. We do not use these to build a picture of individual visitors, and we do not join them to anything else. They exist for security and for keeping the site running.

The enquiry form

The enquiry form on our contact page asks for six things. Four are required — your name, your email address, what your enquiry is about, and how you heard about us. Two are optional — your company and a free-text message. Nothing is collected that you did not type into that form.

We use it for exactly two purposes, and the second is worth naming plainly because most sites do not:

  • To reply to you. Your name, email, company and message are there so a person can answer the thing you actually asked.
  • To know which channel brought you here. That is what the "how did you hear about us" field is for. We publish essays and a book, and this is how we find out whether any of it works. It is a measurement of our publishing, not a profile of you — we do not use it to target you, and it goes nowhere near an advertising system.

Submissions are handled by Formspree, which receives what you typed and passes it to us by email. They process it on our behalf and under their own privacy terms. Beyond that, your enquiry is not shared, sold, rented, or passed to any advertising network or data broker — not now, and not as a change of mind later.

We keep enquiries for as long as we need them to answer you and to hold an ordinary record of who we have spoken to. Ask us to delete yours and we will, without asking why.

Email you send us directly

If you email or call us instead, we hold whatever you chose to send, for the same reasons and on the same terms. The only practical difference is that we will not know which essay or channel brought you to us unless you tell us.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. If you are in the EU or UK, the GDPR gives you those rights explicitly and also lets you complain to your national data protection authority. We will honour the same requests wherever you are, because the alternative is holding data belonging to people who have asked us not to.

Who we are, and how to reach us

Changes

If we start collecting something we do not collect today, this page changes in the same release that starts collecting it — not afterwards. The date at the top is how you check.
